Jadu CMS Manual

Introduction

This manual is designed to give a general overview of the Jadu Content Management Systems (CMS) and the custom development work commissions by the LGAQ to tailor the platform to the needs of Queensland Local Government.

 

The aim is to provide Content Editors and Webmasters with tools and resources to be able to perform all the tasks required in order to create and manage the content within your council’s website.

Publishing - Carousel

Carousel Gallery widget offers a very simple way to display multiple images and videos in a compact space while with a dimensional rotation effect. Supports images and slide text to hyperlinks (to direct viewers to another location). Also include options for previous and next buttons, auto play, slide transition style and slide timing.

 

Widget Details

  • Slides - slides can be reordered by simply dragging and dropping the tile
  • Add new slides - Click 'add new' to add an addditional slide - The slide details form will appear.
  • Transition style – slide or fade
  • Slide timing – non, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15

 

Slide Details

  • Heading
  • Summary (Optional) - Summary text to appear on slide
  • Link title (Optional)
  • Link URL
    • Manual - cut and paste a url to your own site or an exteral site
    • Friendly URL - select one of the friendly URLs created for your site
  • Link Behaviour
    • Open in new window (select if using an external link)
    • Open in current window (select if linking to a page in your website
  • Background Media
    • Image - select or change an image to use as the backgroud to the slide
    • Video - paste the Youtube or vimeo url in to the 'Video URL field
  • Start Date (optional) - only use if you are wanting to schedule content for a future date
  • Start time (optional) - only use if you are wanting to schedule content for a future date and time
  • End Date (optional) - only use if you are wanting to schedule the removal of this slide
  • End Time (optional) - only use if you are wanting to schedule the removal of this slide

Publishing - Document Pages

Document Pages is where you can author your main content pages for your website.  Your documents will need to be structured correctly in order to create a logical layout for your website visitors.

Publishing - Downloads

Navigate to the downloads you wish to link to eg. Employment download area, click ‘Actions’ and then ‘View live’


    • Now on the file that you would like to use ‘right click’ then ‘copy link address’ (IE - 'copy shortcut')

Publishing - Feature Tiles - Icon tiles

The feature tiles set of widgets enables the easy management of a set of tiles and can be utilised on any homepage. When creating a set of tiles, an optional title can be implemented that will display on the site. Individual tiles can then be added to this widget to display the desired information in the format style selected (ie icon, image ot theme tiles). The tiles can be displayed in any order and reordering the tiles is as simple as simple drag and drop the tiles in place to achieve the desired outcome. 

Reordering Links

  • Links can be reordered simply and easily by dragging and dropping the links into the desired order by clicking (and holding down the button of the mouse) on the two dotted lines and dragging the tiles into the correct location.

Icon Tiles Widget

The 'Icon Tiles' widget will enable you to quickly and easily create icon tiles that are styled specifically to suit to for your site – icon tiles feature options for:

  • Icon
  • Heading
  • Summary (optional)
  • Link (optional) – Manual or Friendly URL
  • Link title (optional)
  • Link behaviour (optional) - new or current window

The 'Image Tiles' Widget is a versatile custom widget which has been built to cover a wide range of options to display images, which are styled to suit the look and feel of your sites design. The Image tiles widget options include:

  • Add Image
  • Image placement (left, right, top, bottom, background)
  • Heading
  • Summary (optional)
  • Link (optional) – Manual or Friendly URL
  • Link title (optional)
  • Link behaviour (optional) - new or current window

Publishing - Feature Tiles - Theme tiles

The feature tiles set of widgets enables the easy management of a set of tiles and can be utilised on any homepage. The tiles can be displayed in any order and reordering the tiles is as simple as simple drag and drop the tiles in place to achieve the desired outcome. 

Theme Tiles Widget

The 'Theme Tiles' Widget is a versatile custom widget which has been built to enable easy creation of solid coloured tiles (based on the primary, secondary or tertiary colours of your site), which are styled to suit the look and feel of your sites design. The Theme tiles widget options include:

  • Heading (optional)
  • Tile item
    • Theme (will apply heading colour, background, summary, link, link hover and link visited based on the primary, secondary or tertiary colours)
    • Heading
    • Summary (optional)
    • Link (optional)
    • Link title (optional) – Manual or Friendly URL
    • Link behaviour (optional) - new or current window

Publishing - Image Gallery

This custom widget has been build to display a gallery of images. For use on any homepage the image gallery will display images as thumbnails, starting with the first image expanded to display as full width. Users can then scroll through the images to view each image in the expanded format using the left and right arrows displayed. Alternately users can use the thumbnails to view an image individually. (example of widget display below) 

Add the widget to your homepage

  • Add row to your homepage
  • From the widgets listed on the left hand side, drag and drop the "Image Gallery" widget into the row you have created.
  • Change the widget size to 100%
  • Add content to the widget by clicking on the 'spanner' icon in the top right corner of the row.
  • Give your gallery a heading (this will not display on the website)
  • Add an image by clicking on the "new image" tile.

Adding an image to the image gallery

  • Edit the widget by clicking on the 'spanner' icon in the top right corner of the row
  • To add a new image - clck on the "New image" button (refer image above)
  • Give your image a heading (this will not display on the website)
  • To add an image - press on the 'change' button

  • Click on the 'green plus' icon and follow the steps to upload your image
  • Select the 'Image Gallery' Category

  • Click on "Use This Image"
  • Then "Save image"

Change an existing image

  • Edit the widget by clicking on the 'spanner' icon in the top right corner of the row
  • Click on the tile of the image you would like to change
  • To change the image - press on the 'change' button
  • Select the 'delete' button to remove the image 
  • Then Add a new image as per steps above.

  • Links can be reordered simply and easily by dragging and dropping the links into the desired order by clicking (and holding down the button of the mouse) on the two dotted lines and dragging the tiles into the correct location.

 

Publishing - Homepages

When you need a modular page, you can create them using Homepages. Homepages are based on the principle of building pages visually using widgets. Widgets control each block of content on the homepage, and can contain interactive content such as forms, maps, and integration to back office systems, as well as simple content items such as links, images and formatted text.

Publishing - Homepage banners

Static Homepage Banners

If your website has a static background homepage banner (ie one that does not scroll), this functionality will be used to manage the banner that is displayed. This functionality will enable you to change that background image, or add a selection of images that will change display randomly when the page is refreshed.

Sliding homepage Banners

The standard Jadu homepage banners functionality will not be used in the websites built by LGAQ as we have had a custom 'Carousel Widget' built that has been implemented and configured as part of the LGAQ build of your website. For more about the Carousel Widget view section (above).

Publishing - Polls

Opinion polls are intended to be used to gather general opinion regarding a particular issue. Only one individual poll at a time can be displayed on your organization’s website although it can be added to numerous pages within your site.

 

  • From within the main Jadu CMS Control Center select the Publishing option from the Open menu, and click on Opinion Polls. You will be shown the main Polls area.
  • From this Polls area you can either create a new poll, edit an existing poll or delete an existing poll.

Publishing - Quick Links

A custom Quick links widget has been created to allow for the creation of stylised links that enable community members or website users to quickly and easily access relevant information without having to browse the website IA or use the search tool.

 

Quick links allow Web Adminstrators to quickly configure, manage and maintain shortcuts for website users to utilise and get to relevant information more quickly. Option include:

  • Title
  • Summary (optional)
  • Show Link icons - Yes/No
  • Show Link summary - Yes/No
  • Individual links

Adding Individual Links

The following options are available when adding an individual link.

  • Heading
  • Icons fliter - use this optional search function to find locate a desired icons
  • Click on the icons to make your choice
  • Summary (optional) - Short line of text that will appear under the link
  • Link URL - option to select Manual or Friendly URL
  • Link Behaviour - option to select open in 'new window' or 'current window'
  • Click 'Save link' before continuing to make sure details are saved.

Reordering Links

  • Links can be reordered simply and easily by dragging and dropping the links into the desired order by clicking (and holding down the button of the mouse) on the two dotted lines and dragging the tiles into the correct location.

Publishing - Search focussed feature

Some larger sites can increase user engagement by allowing the website visitor to quickly and easily search for what they’re looking for via a large search box or from pre-populated ‘popular searches’ buttons. The ‘Search focused feature’ is primarily used on the website homepage. Popular searches can be manually created by a website admin user via the control centre.

Publishing - Social Media display

If this element is selected to feature in your design the LGAQ will configure the embedded a social media display to be a global element in the website eg website header or as part of  homepage design.

Publishing - Supplements

Supplements are specific items of re-usable content such as adverts, images or additional navigation items that you can add to your document pages. These are placed outside your actual document page content usually to the left, right or bottom of your document page. The exact positioning options will be specified by your organization, within the website templates.

Publishing - Tabs Widget

The ability to display content widgets within a tabbed display. Admins can choose to display feature tiles, news items (category based), social walls or static content.

Publishing - Weather display widget

This custom widget has been created to give the ability for an embedded weather display to display current weather for the relevant region(s) that the site represents. The widget gives a simple and clear snapshot of the weather including town, temperature, forecast and supporting weather icon. 

 

If this element is selected to feature in your design the LGAQ will configure the embedded weather display to be a global element in the website eg website header or as part of  homepage design.
